The Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) signed the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) on
22 February 2002 as a means of reaching a negotiated solution to the country’s conflict. As an integral part of the Ceasefire
Agreement, the Parties established an international Monitoring Mission to monitor the implementation of the Agreement, and
enquire into any instance of violation of its terms and conditions.
